NAMW stands for the National Association of Memoir Writers, which was founded by my client, Linda Joy Myers. I have done a few design jobs with Linda, including a logo, brochure, CD cover art and a few eBook covers. After the deployment of www.namw.org, I continued working as a Virtual Assistant for her which included the following tasks: Webmaster services (content and members management), shopping cart maintenance, and e-marketing.

The overall concept of the site is to provide a venue for members to learn and guided in their memoir writing. This is where they can post samples of their work and interact with their peers. Linda hosts “teleseminars” which are basically conference calls where members can join in through a special number. Audio versions of these teleseminars are posted in the site after the event has taken place. The site also sells products linked to an external e-commerce solution called 1shoppingcart, which also handles mailing lists and product databases.

The design framework used for www.namw.org was based on the CorpRed theme, modified to suit NAMW’s branding. Here are the site’s current specs:

Summer and Starlight to quote Justin Van Haven is:

Disambiguation: Summer and Starlight is one person. Its not that weird of a concept. Bands like Nine Inch Nails, Bright Eyes, and artists like Prince are all based around a similar ideal.

Justin is a musician, teacher and self-made recording artist from Grand Rapids, MI. In my few chats with him, I have learned that he’s an “artist-in-residence” over at the Contemporary Music Center at Martha’s Vineyard, teaching, to quote, “recording/engineering stuff, some songwriting, and some highfalutin art stuff”.

The site is a simple 2-column blogsite where he also sells his demos and shares some free tracks. It features the following plugins:

• Podpress - for selling and sharing his tracks
• Gigpress - for showing his latest gigs

Matthew Hazelwood presently serves as Music Director of the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, as well as Music Director of the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra. Recently Maestro Hazelwood was named Music Director Emeritus for his distinguished work over thirteen years as Music Director of the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra.

This site is basically a venue for his students and parents to interact with him and be updated on the latest classes and discussions.

This is typically a wordpress site with more focus on utilizing the CMS facilities. Scripts have been modified so the home page shows an actual page section instead of the normal blog entries. Template scripts have been added so certain pages can reflect specific posts according to the tags assigned per post.

This is the best example of achieving a non-blog look and feel but allowing the users to add and manage the content via the same wordpress dashboard.

This site is part of an ongoing project for a series of author websites using the same design theme framework called Thesis. The design is a simple 3-column layout with built-in animated images we can customize per site.

The client utilizes Aweber.com as it’s main leads capture platform with lead capture forms resident in each website. For an eCommerce solution, they also use 1shoppingcart.com for the products they sell online.

This was a start-up wordpress site with customized rotating banners. The site’s number one purpose was to broadcast audio via podpress and teach people how to speak Spanish by listening to audio versions of popular fairy tales embedded within the posts.
